Greater Wichita Field Day brings amateur radio operators, clubs, and the local community together for one of the most anticipated events of the year. This site serves as the central location for updates, planning details, and ways to get involved as preparations move forward.
More information will be added as plans develop. If you have ideas, resources, or time to contribute, please contact KD0HTI@trubetech.com.
ARRL Field Day is the most popular on-the-air amateur radio event in the United States and Canada. Each year, more than 35,000 amateur radio operators participate by setting up temporary stations in parks, fields, and public spaces to operate under simulated emergency conditions.
Field Day is not a traditional contest, which explains much of its popularity. It combines emergency preparedness, public service, technical skills, and community outreach into a single weekend. Many groups use Field Day to practice emergency communications, demonstrate amateur radio capabilities to public officials and served agencies, and introduce the hobby to the general public. For many clubs, it is one of the highlights of the year.
Field Day is held annually on the fourth full weekend of June. Operations begin at 1800 UTC on Saturday and conclude at 2059 UTC on Sunday.
Greater Wichita Field Day will take place at:
Wichita Fire Department RTC
4746 E 31st St S #4494
Wichita, Kansas 67210
The site provides ample space for operating stations, antennas, and public visitors. A detailed map and directions are available on this page.
